It is your life

I feel like everyone at some point in their life, has felt down, hurt or maybe even destroyed.

This leaves them to believe the person they were before; the caring, happy and loving person they were can never “be” again. But what they don’t realize is that it’s not what brought them down that stops then from building up again, but it’s them! Their reactions, their attitude, their way of dealing with stress or pain.

This little tree is growing in a grassy field. Yet the particular spot this tree is growing amongst cement, rock and dirt that never was cleaned up from Katrina years ago. In this little spot, where the grass can’t peak through, this tree refused to be stopped.

That’s how we as humans should be. It isn’t your surroundings or people that control of who you are or who you ca be, but it’s YOU. Take your life into your own control.

Exercise To a New Level

I like working out. You know, picking really heavy things up until my arms shake. Or putting heavy things on my shoulders and squatting until I can’t walk for two days. Or standing on this machine where I run in place until I’m tired, going nowhere. Sounds funny right? That’s what all athletics or workouts are: doing something for no other reason than to better yourself. There are even funnier things than what I do. Like people flinging heavy ropes, or flipping heavy tires.

However; The most bizarre workout to me? Yoga. You stand in place, stretching your limbs to see how far you can go. It seemed odd.

Working out was always about power, strength, seeing how heavy I could lift or how far I could push.

Yoga never enticed me. More so – I realized it scared me. I was all about the power. I have strength, I have speed, I have balance, but seeing the way yoga goers stretched their body was terrifying. I can’t even touch my toes while standing straight legged. I confided in a friend how I wanted to try it but never had because I am strength, not flexibility. She reminded me that it isn’t about flexibility, it’s about breathing – and hey, I’ve been doing that since the day I was born!

Then I really thought about it. I am failing by not trying.

So now, here I am, day 6 of yoga. IT IS AMAZING. I feel great; my legs, back and neck have had less cramping, I have better controlled breathing during my power workouts, and I have had an increase in movement and flexibility.

It’s astounding how something so silly held me back from something so good for me and you better believe I will never do it again.

You cannot do yoga. Yoga is your natural state. What you can do are yoga exercises, which may reveal to you where you are resisting your natural state.

My Escape

Writing, for many individuals across the globe, is an escape. We like to write, express and share. But for me, sharing has always been non-existent. Nothing more than hidden words in closed journals stacked away in collections of dust and darkness. That needs to change. I want to share my words and thoughts with tens, or hundreds or even thousands of strangers sitting behind their screen craving for information about people or things they don’t yet know about.

I want to

wake up in the morning

have a dream

be inspired

create

Isnt that how some of the best pieces of work known to mankind began? As a sketch, a dream, a doodle, or a couple of words written on a napkin?

Why not start with 150 words on a blog and let it build from there. I can’t let the fear of the unknown hold back what I most yearn to do.

To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.
